New Barn Close Surgery is now in it’s fourth year.

NBCSC (or New Barn Close Surgery Charity) was established for the benefit of the patients of New Barn Close Surgery to assist in the provision of facilities and equipment at the surgery which would not otherwise be provided out of statutory funds. Your help will assist in the future evolution of improved facilities, equipment and services for the New Barn Close Surgery in Broadway. We would be incredibly grateful if you would consider donating to the charity. Your support can make a difference.

Having made significant contributions  that enabled the New Barn Close Surgery to be fitted out with a high level of equipment and facilities around the development and opening of the new build, the charity is now in a more ongoing phase to help ensure the continuing evolution of facilities and services.

It has been a difficult time for general practice particularly around staff acquisition and high demand for services, but the charity can continue to play an important ongoing role in helping the evolution of facilities and services as things move forward.

The Trustees were thrilled to see that the huge support enabled by the generosity of donors has contributed to Dr Billings, Hughes and Nyenyezi’s practice becoming the highest-ranking in this area in the national NHS survey. They achieved a 99% score for “trust and confidence in the healthcare professional” and an overall satisfaction (good or very good) score of 93%(Integrated care System average 84.5% - National average 74%).

New Phase for our charity as the surgery settles into ongoing service delivery

The charity has continued to be active in enhancing patient experience and helping improve services. For example, most recently we have supported an increase in the vaccination service by providing two new vaccine storage fridges. This will enable an expansion of delivering simultaneous Covid/Flu vaccination and adding the winter vaccination for Respiratory Syncytial Virus for selected age groups/pregnant women.

We have supported the purchase of a Dopplex ABI Ankle Brachial Index Kit to improve investigation of circulatory and lower limb disorders within the surgery.

Two ear syringe machines have been provided to help ensure retention of the ear syringing service which many other GP practices have abandoned.

We have contributed towards converting a small office into a softer more relaxing and suitable space for psychological therapies and counselling. This has facilitated increased talking therapies and created a more appropriate and productive environment for them to be undertaken.

We have made a small grant to change all staff identity badges to a specially designed dementia and sensory friendly design. These are a special clear black font on bright yellow background in large format.

We have also contributed towards some portable air conditioning units to be used in patient consultation rooms as some of the south facing consultation/examination rooms became unbearable over the heat of the summer.

Donations and Legacies

As a charity our funds are entirely through donations and if you would like to contribute to the charity to help further it’s aims and objectives, please follow the donation link

We would especially welcome you considering New Barn Close Surgery Charity and the possibility of leaving a legacy when drafting/reviewing wills and inheritance issues.

When things go well the charity is a good way to say thank-you

If you have had a good experience at the surgery or a member of staff has been particularly helpful a card or note to the practice is a really nice thing to do and extremely well appreciated but if you wish to go further and donate, then the charity is the ideal conduit to ensure that any support is used effectively for the benefit of patients.
